Associated Press

When I worked for the Associated Press as a satellite uplink operator, I worked with great crews from all over the world. I have many fond memories of working with this Tele-Mundo crew from Mexico City. Tele-Mundo was one of the many customers of the Associated Press. We would uplink their footage and reports to their home networks, sometimes live during their local broadcast and sometimes for recording at the other end for later broadcasts. The Live Hits were the most fun for me. It was like staging a drag race car or a countdown for a rocket launch. I tend to prefer higher-stress jobs, like live TV.

The one on the left was the audio guy who spoke no English. The one in the middle was the Producer/Reporter who spoke fluent English. The guy on the right was the cameraman whom I called Jackie Chan. We had a lot of fun working together back in 2005. When I took this picture, the camera guy was showing his Jackie Chan stance.

I miss working with crews like this. I loved the technology of broadcasting news, but most of all, I loved working with International News Crews. I left working in the news media because I could no longer be a part of the left-wing political propaganda that the American networks were pushing out. I saw firsthand producers rewriting scripts for on-air talent to read live on TV. I stood back and watched as the story being told to the American public was not what happened, or some natural event was blamed on someone they did not like. It has gotten a whole lot worse in recent years.
