Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Wow, does this bring back memories!
Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar was playing in the garage. This was the first song I edited a video with. John Brown University had a Rugby team made up mostly of missionary kids from Africa. Those guys were relentless in how they played the game since they grew up with it. I filmed one of their games, then edited it to this song. I had so much fun editing the 3/4 inch tape that I knew I had to do this a lot more!
46 years later, I am still editing video. The technology has evolved over the years, and I am so thankful that I have grown in my skills along with it. I make a decent living doing what I knew I would love to do the first time I pressed the red edit/record button on that simple machine-to-machine editor back in 1980.
I have edited TV shows, concerts, stage plays, musicals, corporate videos, and product promos shown at NAB conventions, as well as consumer-level videos like weddings. One of the first high-profile videos I edited was adding video inserts on the US version of ‘The Final Countdown’ live concert song by the group Europe for MTV. One of the coolest projects was working on a Paul Harvey Special of the 200th anniversary of the Constitution, which aired nationally on NBC in 1987. Most recently, I edited a lot of ultra-high-def video from the Artemis flight, probably the biggest and most stressful project of my career. A lot of that content can’t be released to the public probably for years. Some will never be released.
A long way from editing a simple video of a Rugby game to a popular song. It has been quite a ride!!
