The Cat Room
Someone asked about our cat room. When we bought our house 36 years ago, this was a screened-in porch. It ended up catching a lot of junk, so we cleaned it out, and I walled in where the screen was. After the flood, we had it built correctly. It even has AC/Heat. Jennifer and Allison made the wall drawers from an old chest of drawers someone got rid of in our neighborhood. I mounted them to the walls where the cats could jump from one to another. The drawers have old towels in them, and that is where the cats sleep. Each cat has their favorite drawers where they sleep.
The cats go in here at night so they will not roam the house. All of our cats are rescues, but we make sure they live like royalty. Right now we have four, our max number: Vlad, Luna, Moxi, and Luca.
Funny thing about this room: when I first moved back in after the flood, the house was still under construction. Channel 26 from Houston came to our neighborhood to interview some families about how we were doing three months after the flood. I was their first interview and had invited them into our house. The cat room was finished except for the flooring and wall drawers. The cameraman said it looked like we had a pet store built into our house.
